Online Privacy Practices
We are keen to strike a fair balance between your personal privacy and ensuring you obtain full value from the internet and the services we may be able to market to you. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.
We are fully registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 (“the Act”) and ensure we comply with all the protection the Act affords you. Further information on the Act is available on the internet at www.dataprotection.gov.uk.

Registration
We collect the details such as the e-mail address and name (where possible) of visitors to our Web Site, the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail and information volunteered by users when they request information such as newsletters or marketing information from us.

What we do with your information
The information we collect is used by us to:

  • contact you for marketing purposes, for example, so that we may provide you with information about the firm and newsletters;
  • to improve the content of our Web Site;
  • to support your relationship with us and fulfill any agreements entered into between you and us;
  • to allow you to participate in interactive features of our services, when you choose to do so; and
  • to notify you about changes to our services.

If you supply us with your postal address on-line you may receive periodic mailings from us with information on new services or upcoming events. Except as set out above, the information you provide will be kept confidential and will be used only to support your relationship with us. We will not sell or transfer your personal data to any third parties for direct marketing purposes.

Keeping your Personal Information Safe and Current
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our Web Site; any transmission is at your own risk. Information for Training Contract Applicants
Goodman Derrick LLP have engaged Apply4Law (www.apply4law.com) to assist with the training contract application process. It will be necessary for you to provide personal data when completing the application form. Goodman Derrick LLP are the ‘data controller’ (as defined in the Act) of the personal data you provide and you will therefore need to consent to Apply4Law processing your personal data on behalf of Goodman Derrick LLP for the purpose of considering and efficiently administering your application. If you agree to your personal data being processed in this way, you should indicate this by ticking the box when prompted.

Use of Your Personal Information
Your personal information shall be used in the following ways:

  • your completed application form will be stored on Apply4Law’s servers;
  • your completed application form will be sent to Goodman Derrick LLP so that they may consider whether to further your application;
  • your email address will be used in order to communicate to you the progress of your application; and
  • if you are an unsuccessful candidate Goodman Derrick LLP will retain your application form for 3 months following notification of your unsuccessful application and then safely dispose of the personal data in a secure manner.

Goodman Derrick LLP and Apply4Law respect your concerns about privacy and follow strict procedures to protect your personal information. Apply4Law will ensure that your personal information is handled in a responsible way. Your personal information will only be used for the purposes listed above. Apply4Law or Goodman Derrick LLP will never sell, rent or otherwise make available any of your personal information, including your email address, unless required to do so by law.

Once Goodman Derrick LLP’s recruitment process has been completed, your personal information will no longer be stored on Apply4Law’s servers.

Apply4Law and Goodman Derrick LLP will use its best endeavours to ensure that your personal information is kept secure and is never accessible to unauthorised third parties. However, Apply4Law or Goodman Derrick LLP will not be liable in any way for any breach of security or for the actions of unauthorised third parties that receive such information.

Data Security
Ultimately, it is your responsibility to ensure that your personal information is kept secure. Accordingly, Apply4Law recommended that you do not use a publicly accessible computer to complete the application form.

Apply4Law use of Cookies
Apply4Law uses session cookies in order to authenticate users during the application procedure. Cookies operate by placing a small text file on your hard drive. Session cookies are deleted once your session has finished. If you do not wish to receive cookies you can alter your Internet browser's settings so that it does not accept them. Please be aware that if cookies are disabled, you will not be able to complete the application form.

Goodman Derrick LLP’s use of IP addresses and Cookies
We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration. This is statistical data about our users' browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual.

For the same reason, we may obtain information about your general internet usage by using a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer's hard drive. They help us to improve our Web Site and to deliver a better and more personalised service. They enable us:

  • to estimate our audience size and usage pattern;
  • to store information about your preferences, and so allow us to customise our site according to your individual interests;
  • to speed up your searches; and
  • to recognise you when you return to our Web Site.
