Rudy advises art galleries, private collectors and artists on a variety of matters including contracts, dispute resolution, intellectual property and taxation.  He also works on similar matters in the historic car field.  He has experience in conventional company and corporate instructions: mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, shareholder agreements, demergers, LLP agreements and general company law advice.  

Highlights:

Private treaty acquisition of Mannerist master portrait (circa £20m) addressing national export restrictions.

Purchase of leading Impressionist painting (circa $45m) with primary issue that of vendor title.

Pursuing buyer’s claim and ultimate dispute resolution for rescission/breach of contract over misattribution of authorship of late Impressionist painting.
